Featuring the work of 7 contemporary artists, Confined responded to the theme of LOOK/11, 'Photography as a call to action.’ The artists’ work engaged with range of subjects that negotiate control and containment. They considered the experiences of captive and keeper in circumstances of imprisonment and detention, the ethical treatment of animals, ecological conservation and the history of psychiatric care. At the core of their efforts is a humane examination of how we treat each other and our living environment.
